The bar “La Copa” has become an integral part of Innsbruck’s local scene. The business started in 1984 with a Latin American flair and the legendary Spanish country wine served “straight” from the oak barrel. Just one year later, alongside many regular guests, they had the honor of hosting the king of flamenco guitar, Paco de Lucia, with his group. He was followed by a number of flamenco stars, such as Pedro Soler, Paco Peña, Juan Manuel Cañizares and Vicente Amigo, who often ended their evenings at owner Gerhard’s place - where the guitars usually don’t get much rest. Jose Feliciano, Los Duendes Paraguayos, and Los Reyes (Gipsy Kings) also felt right at home in the more than 800-year-old vaulted cellar. Current superstar Semino Rossi first came to the venue in 1985, recommended by fellow musicians in southern Spain. Until 2001 (for 16 years), he regularly enchanted guests - mostly on Wednesdays - with his unmistakable voice and his interpretations of Latino hits and self-made compositions, embodying the Latin American lifestyle and joy for music. He also shaped the neighboring venue “La Cabana”, where even today, talented musicians perform their best every Tuesday at the “Open Mic” night for an appreciative audience. This joy for life attracted top Tyrolean and Austrian athletes as well - even world champions and Olympic gold medalists celebrated their victories at “La Copa”. The Austrian football championship title was also celebrated twice at La Copa with FC Tirol, whose players were regular guests under Ernst Happel. ‚It is almost taken for granted, that the now legendary “Club of Masters” (Athletes Helping Athletes) was born at “La Copa” in 1988. Its members include world champions, Olympic gold medalists, national champions, and patrons who made it their mission to support athletes with disabilities. For many years, we have been hosting our Karaoke Parties at La Copa, which have since become one of the highlights of Innsbruck’s Old Town. If karaoke gets too much, guests can wind down the evening at the opposite La Cabana with house, reggaeton, Latin music, and party hits.
